This is a short post, dedicated to my biggest supporter - Mr. Craft.  A big THANK YOU for all your support and for putting up with all my craziness ~ for shaking your head and asking me the same question every time I come back from a flea market .... "where are we going to store all this junk you keep bringing home", and each time my answer is the same, "I will find a place some where in the house" [which I do]. He is not just my supporter, but also my great handy man ~ without him I would not be able to do half the stuff I do and get this off the ground.  So, Mr. Craft ~ thank you, thank you ..... I am truly blessed to have you and I love you dearly.

It's been a busy week here in DC with the Pope's visit.  Most folks tele-commuted last Wednesday, including myself, as most of the streets were closed ..... what a thrill to have the Pope here in DC.

And what a day it has been for Katryna as Pope Francis made an unscheduled visit to St. Joes today. She and several writers for the St. Joe's newspaper, The Hawk covered the entire visit.  Katryna has sure found her niche, being a reporter ~ clearly loves it with a passion.  We are thrilled that she has been blessed to be a part of this historic visit and look forward to reading all the articles in the next edition of The Hawk

What a way to end the week!

Getting back after a break over the summer ~ hard to believe that another summer is behind us.  I am noticing some of the trees are starting to change color with some of them even dropping their leaves ...... my favorite season of the year!  Here's to those hot humid days behind us ~ welcome fall.

Well, the kids are back at school, Katryna in her senior year in college and Dinesh in his senior year in high school ~ not quite sure where the time has gone.  Looking forward to an exciting senior year ~ a busy year ahead of us with two graduations in May next year.  We have the making of the senior float in our garage for Homecoming ~ the theme this year is Harry Potter.  .

Sadly, this will be our last year for making the float at home .... kind of a very sad and hollow feeling. I am trying not to focus or think about it too much, but to just enjoy the ride with Dinesh and his friends before they start the next chapter in their lives.

So, with all the time I am going to have on my hands in about a year, I thought I will go back to my first love ~ painting and distressing furniture.  Let me tell you, I love painting with Annie Sloan chalk paint ~ it is not too watery or too thick, but almost creamy like and goes on so very smoothly ~ love the paint.  I was finally able to finish two little end tables, and re-purposed an old window from the stock of windows I got from a friend in the spring.

So, this is what I have been working on ~ the next project is a table using an old wrought iron sewing machine base.

Have a great weekend.   Until next time ......................

Hope everyone had a great weekend ~ it was somewhat of a busy one for us, but I was still able to quickly paint some mason jars.  I have to say, mason jars are one of my favorites, whether it is painting them or using them for candles or anything else ~ they are just lots of fun to work with.  So, here's what I was busy painting over the weekend getting ready for July 4th.

I distressed them a bit to give it a shabby chic look.

One of my favorite is this vintage jar I created a few years back as a candle ......... when lit, it is really beautiful.

Whenever I am up in PA I pick as many jars as I can at yard sales, and I have so many of them that Mr. Craft built me a few shelves to store them all. Several of them are vintage jars which of course are my favorite ~ like these.

I usually don't paint any of the really old ones, but rather collect them and place them around the house just for their simple beauty.

Some of the more plain vintage Ball jars, I like either painting or using them as candles ~ either way, they are all just adorable.  Here are a few I have painted ~ you may have seen some of them on my FB page.

Perfect for a wedding center piece

Last week I finished a little bench I picked up at a yard sale last summer for $10.

A cute little idea using a head board and foot board from a twin bed.  It sat in the garage for an entire year ......... finally, I took it out, gave it a new coat of paint and added it to our little dining table at the lake.

I used some milk paint I had sitting in the house, stained the back spindles and accented the ones at the bottom ~ noting fancy, but I liked the way it turned out.

The next two projects are these two little gems that a dear friend found for me.  Cannot wait to make them over.  I will post pictures as I am working on them.

Until next time .....................

This is a tad late, but you know the saying 'better late than never'.

Had a great Memorial Day weekend at the lake with the family ......... Katryna is also back from college and I guess you can say summer has officially started and I am one happy mom.  This also means yard sales and craft fairs - what more does one need!

Recently I posted a picture of a bunch of windows on FB.  A friend up in PA was renovating a house and was able to save a few for me.  Different sizes, some with four & six panes, some of them are pretty worn which makes them even more unique ~ all in all a great Christmas gift in April.

There are a bunch of things you can do to up-cycle these gems, and this is where Mr. Craft comes in real handy ~ here's a picture of a coffee table we built last year.

So the plan is to work on a few window projects over the summer ~ please reply with any ideas you may have, would love to hear from you.

I have so much stuff I have picked up at yard sales over the past few years, that I really need to get working on some projects.  So, here's to a busy summer!

Until next time .............

Hope spring is treating everyone well. This is a little late, but we had prom two weeks ago and all the kids looked absolutely great.  Dinesh looked so very handsome ....... just hard to believe how grown up he is.  There were a total of 10 kids in the group, with one of the girls mom hosting the dinner for the kids which was fabulous ~ all in all, another great DHS prom and the kids had a great time.

Dinesh & Gillian

The entire group with perfect weather for pictures and all looking their best.

The same weekend, I had a craft fair in Damascus and had a little bit of everything ~ cards, mason jars, signs and these cute little door hangers.  At first I was not sure how they would turn out, but they ended up turning out better than I expected.

With the summer here, and spending most of our time at the lake, the plan is to use the time to get ready for the holiday craft fairs - I think the first one is in early November.

It's been some time since my last post.  Yeah and we are halfway through spring.

The silence has been due to my not being able to make a decision between using a Blogger or WordPress blog template ....... and let's just say I put way too much time trying to make a decision.   Well, here I am finally deciding to stay with Blogger ~ for what I want to do, this is just fine and here I am continuing on my little blogging journey.

With spring finally here, Washington, DC is in its glory with all the blooms, specially the cherry blossoms.  I am a disappointed I couldn't get down to the tidal basin to take some pictures of the cherry blossoms, but I was able to get a few pictures of some beautiful trees in bloom in front of the White House at Lafayette Park.

Spring is also the start of all the craft festivals, flea markets and garage sales ~ and I for one cannot wait to stroll through these over the next few months.  Our little town of Damascus is having its first Art Festival on May 16 ~ super excited to be a part of it as a vendor to benefit the Damascus Lion's Club, Thor Teams, Inc and Faith Connections, all to help and encourage disadvantaged youth to succeed.

Well, here's to a great spring and summer to all.  Until next time ...........

So, for those of us living in the DC metro area, what a surprise with all the snow we got on Saturday..... well, 10" later we all just put our hands up and just made the best of it ~ I have to say, it is always a beautiful 'Christmas card' looking scene.  I really thought the last snow storm earlier in the week was the last for the season, but I guess Mother Nature thinks otherwise.

So here's the last snow picture for the season!

The snow did bring some time to spend down in the craft room ~ I made a few birthday tags using some beautiful designs inspired by Melisa Phillips at Lily Bean Paperie.  We have a few March birthdays coming around the corner, which these would be perfect to add to a gift.

The first birthday is Katryna's ~ 21 on the 9th!  I am struggling with how time has passed so quickly. I still remember bringing her home from the hospital, a tiny little bundle who has grown up to be a beautiful strong young women.

For all of us just counting down the days to spring ~ 24 days!

Until next time ........................

Quick post ~ The weather is bitterly cold with some snow coming Monday night through Tuesday morning.  Heading out to work in the morning is going to be rough ...... but at least it will be an easy traffic day as it is President's Day.

I was going through some of my pictures and found some mason jars and tags I made a few years back when I first started crafting ~ my favorite is the second one.

These are some tags I created using shipping labels ~ my favorite being the one with the bird.

I found some time this weekend to finish my paper wreath, which I will upload later this week, but I also worked on some cards & tags getting ready for Mothers Day, which is not too far away.

Have a great week & until next time .............
